Dogwoof up for Distributor of the Year!

In a week where London finally gets the heat - 30 degrees - and it's the big "O" day, here at the Dogwoof HQ we're celebrating our nomination as DISTRIBUTOR OF THE YEAR in the 2012 Screen Daily awards. We're in three categories with a total of four nominations, but the one we're taking ice cream orders for is the nomination for UK Distributor of the Year. This is a hotly contested category and we're proud to be an independent up against the likes of studio big boys Sony, Fox and Warners.

Given that we're proud of all our films and so, so pleased that Dreams of a Life and Bombay Beach are up for awards, what makes Distributor of the Year so special is that it acknowledges what we did as a whole last year by our industry peers.

Dogwoof was established eight years ago, and in the last 12 months we've been going non-stop: released some incredible films including The Interrupters, Tabloid, Dreams of a Life, Bombay Beach and Bill Cunningham New York, launched PopUp Cinema, started a Sales division and opened an office Stateside, so this industry nomination is not only a great acknowledgement of our labours but a great incentive to stay imaginative and keep releasing the finest documentaries the world has to offer.

So here's us, giving ourselves a pat on the back and thinking of ways that we can be better than ever!
