Call Me Kuchu is in cinemas on November 2nd, and we are delighted that Picturehouse have chosen the film for their Pic Docs Discover Tuesday event for November. The film will screen in Picturehouse cinemas across the UK on the evening of November 6th, and will be your only chance to catch this must-see doc in many cities.
Call Me Kuchu has been picking up awards all year, including Best International Feature at HotDocs and Best Documentary at the Berlin Film Festival. The film follows Ugandan LGBT rights activist David Kato. In Uganda, a new bill threatens to make homosexuality punishable by death. David - Uganda's first openly gay man - and his fellow activists work against the clock to defeat the legislation while combating vicious persecution in their daily lives.
With 4 Star reviews from Empire and Total Film Magazine already, this film brings the harsh realities of human rights issues for the LGBT community to the big screen. What would you do if revealing your sexuality put your life in threat?
For those in London, director Malika Zouhali-Worrall is also taking part in a Q&A following a preview screening at the Curzon Soho on the 29th October.
